Every year, since its inception in 1989, it is a tradition at Mercyhurst to have the seniors give the college a class gift before they graduate.
Past gifts by the seniors have been the stained glass window in the Mercy Heritage room, Student Union gazebo, library books, scholarships, The Rock at the entrance of the college, the Alumni Park near the Grotto, the ceramic Mercy Cross in the Hirt Center lobby, and the most recent class gift, the Sister Damien Bell in Garvey Park by the Class of 2005.
The Class of 2006 presented President Dr. Thomas Gamble with seven banners, six of which include different departments of the campus and a generic Mercyhurst College banner. The banners will be used for all future commencements as well as speakers.
