Any student at Mercyhurst can tell you Sister Damien was an avid supporter of Laker athletics.
For 20 years she answered the phone, greeted the students as they went to class, called that they received flowers, inquired and prayed for their families, and always was there to cheer them on and cheer them up. Her love of the college and pride in the accomplishments of its students became the spirit of Mercyhurst.
At Laker games, with her cowbell in one hand and holy water in the other, she became a Mercyhurst legend.
Sadly, Sister Damien passed away on August 20, 2004.
Throughout the 2004-05 season, several teams had the following decal on their helmets to remember their biggest fan.
