Notre Dame, Ind. - The Mercyhurst women's cross country team finished 20th out of 34 teams at the National Catholic Championships Friday.

Running against teams at all levels, the Lakers scored 600 points. Notre Dame and Marquette tied with 28 points, with the Irish winning by sixth runner tie-breaker, while Xavier ended third with 120 points. The only other GLIAC school in the competition, Gannon, finished one spot ahead of Mercyhurst with 597 points.

With 267 runners in the field, Katie Jarocki led Mercyhurst for the second consecutive week with a 79th place finish in 20:28. Victoria Caruso ended 101st in 20:49 and Samantha Colvin placed 112th in 21:01. Amanda Ehrbar was 174th in 22:12 and Carolyn Franze was right behind in 176th place with a time of 22:14.

Mercyhurst will have two weeks off before competing next in the Le Moyne Invitational on September 30.
