Loudonville, N.Y. - Mercyhurst finished play at the Siena Invitational Sunday with a split. The Lakers defeated Queens College of New York 12-4 before dropping an 8-6 decision to Iona. The Lakers are now 9-7-1 overall.

Mercyhurst opened an 8-3 lead at intermission and went on from there to turn back Queens College (N.Y.) 12-4. Christine Somera scored five goals for the Lakers while Cassie Rand added three and Carrie Willison two more. Goaltender Gina Mieras not only made four saves, but contributed five assists and a steal.

Mercyhurst: 3-5-1-3= 12

Iona scored the only two goals of the fourth quarter to capture the nightcap 8-6. The teams were tied 3-3 at halftime and 6-6 after three quarters. Tessa DiLoreto and Christie Haibach paced the attack with two goals apiece.
