LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Mercyhurst opened play at the Siena Invitational with wins over Slippery Rock and St. Francis (N.Y.) The Lakers edged the Rock 8-7 before rolling past the Terriers 10-2.

Against Slippery Rock, Christie Haibach scored three goals and Carrie Willison added a pair of scores and four assists. Willison also had three steals.

Gina Mieras made seven saves.

In the second match of the day, Mercyhurst allowed just a pair of scores in the third quarter, but followed it up with a five-goal fourth quarter to seal a 10-2 win.

Willison dominated play with four goals, two assists, seven steals and five drawn ejections. Christine Somera also had a strong performance with three goals, two assists, six steals, and four drawn ejections.

Mieras added seven more saves against St. Francis and added an assist.

The Lakers improved to 8-10 with the two wins.
