GROVE CITY, Pa. - Mercyhurst scored five unanswered goals in the first quarter on its way to an 8-4 win in the first of four matches at the Grove City Invitational.

The Knights cut it to 6-4 at the half, but Mercyhurst outscored Queens 2-1 in the third and neither team found the back of the goal in the fourth quarter.

Cassie Rand scored four goals to lead the Laker attack. She also had four steals. Carrie Willison and Christine Somera had each assists each.

Gina Mieras made five saves.

The win evened Mercyhurst's record at 5-5 for the season.

The Lakers hit the water for three matches on Saturday, March 25. Mercyhurst faces Slippery Rock at 9:40 AM, Utica at 4:20 PM and Grove City at 7:40 PM. All three matches are at the Grove City Invitational.
