No. 10 Ashland Too Much for Laker Volleyball

Erie, Pa. - Less than 24 hours after recording 66 kills in an upset over Findlay, the Mercyhurst women's volleyball team was held to 27 kills and were downed in three games by No. 10-ranked Ashland at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center on Saturday. Ashland (23-3, 12-2 GLIAC) took the match by scores of 30-22, 30-21, 30-15. With the loss, the Lakers fall to 15-12 overall and 3-11 in the GLIAC. It is also Mercyhurst's seventh loss in its last eight matches. On Friday against Findlay, four Lakers tallied double digit kills, but on Saturday, Lauren Kubinski led the team with nine. Sophomore Julia Butler was held to a 21 assists--her second lowest total of the season. Saturday also served as senior day for the Lakers, and senior Christine Nisbet recorded two service aces to tie the school record for career aces. The Lakers host Lake Erie College on at the MAC on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. |
