Laker Volleyball Tripped at Michigan Tech

Houghton, Mich. - Junior Jenna Matson recorded 13 kills, but Michigan Tech, playing on its home floor, defeated the Mercyhurst women's volleyball team by scores of 30-27, 30-22,30-23 on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Lakers' (12-5, 0-4 GLIAC) skid extends to four matches, and the team remains winless in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. Meanwhile, Michigan Tech (3-9, 1-3) notched its first GLIAC win of the season.

The Lakers were plaqued by its errors, as they committed 14 service errors while recording two aces, and hit .087 on the match. Michigan Tech hit .186, but totaled 11 service aces and 10 total team blocks.

Matson's 13 kills were a match-high, and junior Lauren Kubinski added nine. Sophomore Julia Butler totaled 29 assists to go with four kills and seven digs. Freshman Kendall Asworth led the team with 15 digs.

Mercyhurst closes out its final road trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula as a member of the GLIAC on Sunday at Lake Superior State. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
