Ashland, Ohio - For the second time in as many days, the Mercyhurst women's volleyball team suffered a road loss to a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division opponent. On Saturday, it was Ashland, the No.9-ranked team in Division II.

Ashland (13-1, 2-0 GLIAC) earned the victory in three games by scores of 30-24, 30-23, 30-18. The Lakers, after opening the season 12-1, fall to 12-3 overall and 0-2 in GLIAC action.

Junior Jenna Matson led the team with 11 kills on 32 swings for a .219 hitting percentage. She also finished with seven digs. Only four Lakers finished the match with more than one kill.

Sophomore Julia Butler recorded a team-best 28 assists and added 10 digs. Freshman Kendall Ashworth notched a team-best 12 digs. Junior Lauren Kubinski recorded three block assists.

Ashland was led by Mary Kate Glowe, who recorded 18 kills, and Britney Jurchenko, who added 12 kills. Lundsey Warren totaled 46 assists.

As a team, the Lakers hit .054, while Ashland hit .293.

Mercyhurst is currently in the middle of a five-game road swing that next stops in Northern Michigan on Sept. 21. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
