Lakers Beat Ferris State In Non-Conference Tilt

Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst women's tennis team, ranked No. 9 in the Great Lakes Region, picked up a 7-2 non-conference victory over Ferris State Saturday. The Lakers won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches.

Kim Ezzo, Jaclyn McLean and Meghan Raynor each won both singles and doubles matches on the way to the victory. Ezzo had a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and paired with Jennifer Daly for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. McLean and Raynor paired up to win 8-1 at No. 2 doubles and McLean pulled out a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win at No. 3 singles. Raynor had a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.

Mercyhurst also got singles wins from Elizabeth Mullane and Maria Franco. Mullane won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and Franco had a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6.

Ferris State falls to 5-15 on the year and Mercyhurst improves to 12-7. The Lakers will play at Carnegie Mellon April 1 at 4:00 p.m. in their next spring match.
