Bay City, Mich. - Mercyhurst College freshman Megan Houston was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Softball Player of the Week after she drove in six runs in a sweep of Clarion University last week.

Mercyhurst swept Clarion 8-0 and 7-2 and Houston played a large part in the offensive onslaught. She went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI in the opener, smashing a two-RBI double during a four-run fourth inning that put the game away.

She followed that up by going 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI in the nightcap. Houston again doubled in the contest and had the game-winning RBI in the first inning. Her fourth inning two-run double gave the Lakers a 5-0 lead.

Mercyhurst is now 12-13 on the year and is 2-2 in GLIAC play. The Lakers are scheduled to host rival Gannon Wednesday at 3 p.m.
