Lakers Fall in Bottom of Seventh
May 4, 2007 MIDLAND, Mich. - A walkoff home run by Katie Kraai in the bottom of the seventh inning accounted for the game's only run as second seeded Ferris State outlasted the seven seed Mercyhurst 1-0 in the first round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship Tournament. The homer was the only blemish on an otherwise stellar outing from senior pitcher Jen Feret. Feret surrendered only three hits over the first six innings before the homer, striking out five Bulldogs. With the loss, Mercyhurst will face Ashland, the six seed, after the Eagles lost to Gannon in their tournament opener. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. Internet access issues at the tournament site have prevented use of Live Stats during the tournament to this point, but they should become available as soon as the issues are resolved. |
