Indianapolis, Ind. - The Mercyhurst women's soccer team is ranked No. 4 in the Great Lakes Region by the NCAA Division II women's soccer committee. The top six teams in each region will advance to the NCAA Playoffs beginning Nov. 9.

Mercyhurst climbed one spot from a week ago after defeating Findlay 5-0 and Ashland 3-2 during the past weekend. Junior Sarah Powell was named GLIAC Player of the Week after scoring three goals and adding two assists in the victories.

Grand Valley State remains No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region, followed by Southern Illinois Edwardsville and Quincy. Mercyhurst is No. 4 and Northern Kentucky and Wisconsin Parkside round out the top six.

The final selection will take place Nov. 5. In first and second round games, teams will be paired in their regions. The No. 4 seed will play the No. 5 seed and the No. 3 seed will play the No. 6 seed on Nov. 9. The winner of the 4/5 game will play the top seed on Nov. 11 and the winner of the other game will play the No. 2 seed on the same day.
