Bay City, Mich. - Mercyhurst College junior forward Sarah Powell was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week Monday after leading the Lakers to a pair of conference victories over the weekend.

In a 5-0 win over Findlay Friday, Powell had two goals and an assist. She assisted on the game-winner just 2:35 into the first period and then added the third and fifth goals of the contest.

In a 3-2 victory over Ashland Sunday, Powell added another goal and an assist. Mercyhurst led 1-0 with 16 minutes to play when she scored her goal and then assisted on a Karla Vogt score four minutes later. Those goals were critical when Ashland scored twice in the final 10 minutes.

Mercyhurst is 11-3-1 on the season and 5-2 in GLIAC play. Powell has a team-high 12 goals and has added six assists for a team-best 30 points. The Lakers will play at Daemen College Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
