Women's Soccer Climbs For Third Consecutive Week
Sept. 26, 2006 Erie, Pa. - With a nine game winning streak in tow, the Mercyhurst women's soccer team climbed one spot to No. 20 in the NCAA Division II poll released today.
With a win over Saginaw Valley State, the Lakers rose in the poll for the third consecutive week, climbing past St. Leo (Fla.). Mercyhurst is still ranked third in the region, trailing No. 4 Grand Valley State and No. 9 Quincy (Ill.), the only team to beat the Lakers this year.
There was no movement among any of the top nine teams in the country as Nebraska-Omaha remained No. 1, followed by Metro State (Colo.), Carson-Newman (Tenn.), Grand Valley State and West Chester (Pa.).
This week, the Lakers have an opportunity to make noise nationally when they host No. 4 Grand Valley State Friday at 4 p.m. Sunday, the squad will host GLIAC foe Ferris State at 1 p.m. |
