Box Score

Indiana, Pa. - Junior Christine Rehnert scored her ninth goal of the season and the game winner as the Mercyhurst Lakers women's soccer team pulled out a 3-2 overtime win over Indiana University (Pa.) on Monday. Mercyhurst improves to an impressive 13-3-1 record this season, while Indiana University falls to 11-6 overall.

Less than two minutes into the first overtime period, Rehnert scored off of an assist from defender Jamie Schroter to give the Lakers the decisive 3-2 win. Mercyhurst edged out the Crimson Hawks 20-14 in shots and 8-6 in corner kicks.

In the first half, junior Sarah Powell struck first for the Lakers at the 20 minute mark when she finished a ball from Rehnert to give Mercyhurst an early 1-0 lead. The Hawks would make the score even at one though to close out the half when IUP's Sarah Romasco tallied her 18th goal of the season at the 40th minute mark.

In the second half, freshman Jamie Schroter took home her eighth assist of the season when she hit sophomore Taylor Hilinski for the Lakers second goal of the match in the 60th minute. IUP would not settle though and scored the tying goal in the 73rd minute to push the game into overtime.

Rehnert ended the day with one goal and one assist. Schroter earned two assists, while Powell and Hilinski walked away with one goal apiece. Junior goalkeeper Rebecca Heintzman made four stops.

The Lakers will return to Tullio Field on Sunday for their last regular season game against GLIAC opponent Gannon. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
