Amherst, N.Y. - Sarah Powell and Christine Rehnert each scored goals in the final 17 minutes as the Mercyhurst women's soccer team defeated Daemen College 2-0 Wednesday. The Lakers improve to 12-3-1 with the non-conference victory.

Despite holding a 20-6 advantage in shots, Mercyhurst was unable to get on the scoreboard until late in the contest. Powell scored on a breakaway in the 73rd minutes and Rehnert added an insurance goal in the 84th minute after Powell's attempt at a second goal clanged off a post.

Mercyhurst's next game will be its final road regular season game as the Lakers play at Indiana (Pa.) Monday at 4:00 p.m.
