Oct. 15, 2006

Stats

Midland, Mich. - The Mercyhurst women's soccer team remained unbeaten in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, posting a 4-0 shutout victory over Northwood Sunday. Four different players scored goals for the 19th ranked Lakers.

Mercyhurst, 13-2 overall and 5-0 in the GLIAC, held Northwood without a shot on goal for the match. The Lakers were able to convert on four of their seven shots on goal, scoring twice in each half.

Karla Vogt tallied the game-winner, scoring her first goal of the year in the 16th minutes. Sarah Powell's team-leading 13th goal gave the Lakers a two goal cushion just before the half.

In the final 45 minutes, Taylor Hilinski and Lisa Casement added goals for the 4-0 final. Karen Eade played all 90 minutes in goal, getting the shutout.

Mercyhurst will try to clinch at least a share of the conference championship this weekend when the Lakers play at GLIAC opponents Ashland and Findlay on Friday and Sunday.
