Casement Scores Twice as Lakers Shut Out Ferris State

ERIE, Pa. - Lisa Casement scored both goals as No. 20 Mercyhurst (11-1, 4-0 GLIAC) blanked visiting Ferris State (6-6, 2-3 GLIAC) 2-0. It was the 11th win in a row for the Lakers.

Casement put Mercyhurst ahead with a score in the 11th minute. The Lakers had a flurry of shots in front of the Bulldog goal. After a shot by Sarah Powell, Karla Vogt passed the rebound to Casement for the score.

Casement score the game's final goal at 54:56. Powell and Casement got ahead of the Ferris State defense and drew keeper Carla Gilbertson out of the net. Powell passed to Casement in the center of the field, who beat the charging keeper with a shot from 20 yards.

Rebecca Heintzman started the game and played the first 73 minutes, making five saves. Karen Eade finished off the shutout with 17 minutes of action. She had a pair of saves.

Gilbertson made three saves in net for the Bulldogs.

Both teams had 14 shots in the contest. Mercyhurst had eight corner kicks compared to four for Ferris State.

Mercyhurst will look to make it 12 in a row when the Lakers travel to West Virginia Wesleyan on October 6 at 7:00 PM.
