Lakers Defeat the Mountain Lions of Concord 4-1

Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst defeated Concord 4-1 in their match-up on Friday evening at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field for their seventh straight win. The game winning goal was shot by Braedyn Ordway, her first collegiate goal, with an assist by Sarah Powell at 35:32.

The Lakers improve to 7-1 record, whereas the Mountain Lions fell to a 2-6 record.

Sarah Powell scored first for the Lakers at 5:47 with the assist from Lisa Casement. Followed by Ordway's goal. Jacque Sluga followed with a penalty kick at 51:09 for her first goal of the season. At 64:59, Maria Amicone scored her second goal of the season with an assist by Sarah Powell for the Lakers to extend its lead to 4-0.

Leanna Neuner for the Mountain Lions answered one of the Lakers' goals at 64:59 with an assist by Laura Ciccone.

Mercyhurst held an advantage over Concord with 30-to-7 shots and 18-to-1 corner kicks. Lakers keeper Rebecca Heintzman had three saves on the night.

The Lakers will face Shepherd University on Saturday, September 16 at 1pm at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field.
