Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst women's varsity eight crew jumped into the top five in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches' Association/USRowing NCAA Division II poll released Wednesday. The Lakers moved into the top five on the strength of a win over Eastern Michigan during the past weekend.

Western Washington is the top ranked varsity eight crew in Division II, followed by Dowling and Philadelphia University. Nova Southeastern is just in front of Mercyhurst at No. 4.

The Laker varsity eight rowed a 6:43.61 in its dual meet against Eastern Michigan, defeating the Eagles by almost seven seconds.
