FINDLEY LAKE, N.Y. - The Lakers overcame harsh conditions on Findley Lake that included white-outs, sub-freezing temperatures and strong winds to capture wins in two of the three races at the Mercyhurst Invitational. Mercyhurst won both the Novice 4 and Varsity 8.

In the Novice 4, the Lakers picked up an easy open-water victory over Cleveland State. Mercyhurst rowed a 9:13.00, compared to 10:48 for the Vikings.

It was a different race, but the same story in the Varsity 8, with Mercyhurst taking out Cleveland State by over a minute and 20 seconds with a time of 8:17.84.

The two wins over the Vikings avenged a loss to Cleveland State in the day's first race, the Varsity 4. Mercyhurst finished second in a three-boat race as the Vikings turned in an 8:31.10, defeating the Lakers by 15 seconds. D'Youville was third.

Mercyhurst travels to the Knecht Cup in Camden, New Jersey on April 14 and 15.
