Chris Niebauer, a 1990 Mercyhurst graduate, has been an assistant men's and women's rowing coach at Mercyhust since 1990, when he began coaching the novice teams. He rowed four years at Mercyhust, going undefeated against Marietta College during his college rowing career. He has garnered his share of medals and awards over 20 years competing in the sport of rowing. After college, he achieved his greatest accomplishment, winning the Head of the Ohio in a shell he designed and built. He has built rowing shells and oars in Pennsylvania, Maine and New Hampshire. Niebauer's rowing career began at Mercyhurst Prep, when he took up the sport as a freshman in 1982. He is married to Tina, enjoys fly fishing, and is the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Steelhead Association. |
