ERIE, Pa. - Breanna Haggerty of the Mercyhurst College women's lacrosse team was named to the Division II Rookie Team by womenslacrosse.com.

Haggerty earns the honor after a record setting rookie season at Mercyhurst. Starting at attack, she tallied school records with 53 goals and 86 points. Her 33 assists were the second best season in Laker history.

Her numbers also ranked among the national leaders. Haggerty was fourth in Division II in points per game (5.06) and eighth in assists per game (1.94). The Skaneateles, New York native rated 15th in the nation in goals per game (3.12).

Earlier this offseason, Haggerty was named to the Division II All-South Region second team by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

Haggerty was one of 16 student-athletes named to the rookie team.

She helped the Lakers to a three-win improvement as the team finished 9-8 in 2006. The squad also set single season team marks in goals, assists and points.
