Ball, Jackson Tabbed to Academic Honor Roll

June 26, 2006

ERIE, Pa. - Kathryn Ball and Lindsay Jackson of the Mercyhurst College women's lacrosse team were selected to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Academic Honor Roll. The Lakers were also honored as an IWLCA Honor Squad.

Ball and Jackson were among just 38 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll.

Mercyhurst was one of only nine teams in Division II to compile a team grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0.

Ball, a defender from Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, made her second appearance on the Academic Honor Roll. A starter in all 17 games in 2006, she caused 13 turnovers and led the team with 41 ground balls. In her career, she scored two goals.

Jackson (pictured, left), a midfielder from Churchton, Maryland, started all 17 games in 2006. She tallied eight goals and six assists for 14 points, grabbed 22 ground balls and 12 draw controls. She scored 21 career goals and added nine assists for 30 points. A two-sport athlete, Jackson also played field hockey all four years at Mercyhurst.

St. Thomas Aquinas College, Molloy College and Pfeiffer University were chosen as IWLCA Merit Squads with GPAs over 3.2. Mercyhurst, C.W. Post, University of New Haven, Shippensburg University, West Chester University and Gannon University joined them as IWLCA Honor Squads.

The Lakers finished the 2006 season with a record of 9-8 overall, a three-win improvement over the previous season.
