Four Lakers Tabbed for IWLCA All-Star Game

ERIE, Pa. - Kathryn Ball, Lindsay Jackson, Kelsey French and Kim Johannigman of the Mercyhurst College women's lacrosse team are among just 22 Division II senior student-athletes selected to participate in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) 2006 Farewell Festival.

All four Lakers will compete for the South Team, which will take on its counterparts from the North on Saturday, June 10 at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Maryland. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.

The game will be followed an awards banquet that night as the IWLCA and US Lacrosse honor its All-Americans.

Ball (pictured, left), a defender from Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, started in all 17 games this season. She caused 13 turnovers and led the team with 41 ground balls.

In her career, she scored two goals and was named to the IWLCA National Honor Roll.

Jackson (pictured, right), a midfielder from Churchton, Maryland, started all 17 games in 2006. She tallied eight goals and six assists for 14 points, grabbed 22 ground balls and 12 draw controls.

She scored 21 career goals and added nine assists for 30 points. A two-sport athlete, Jackson also played field hockey all four years at Mercyhurst.

French (pictured, left), a forward from Corning, New York, leaves Mercyhurst as one of the program's all-time leading scorers. She finished her career fourth all-time in goals with 102 and is third in both assists with 73 and points with 175.

In 2006, she started all 17 games and had 41 goals, 26 assists and 67 points, all of which were second on the team. She played in all 62 games during her career.

Johannigman, a midfielder from Cincinnati, Ohio, played in 16 games as a senior, recording two goals and an assist for three points. She also had seven ground balls, 15 draw controls and caused two turnovers.

Johannigman scored 10 career goals.

The Lakers finished the 2006 season with a record of 9-8 overall, a three-win improvement over the previous season.
