Mercyhurst Moves Up One Spot to No.7 in the IWLCA Poll

Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team moved up one spot this week to No.7 in the IWLCA Division II Poll Wednesday. The Lakers received 34 votes to tie for seventh with cross-town rival Gannon in the poll. Mercyhurst is currently 8-2 this season with its only loses coming to defending national champion No.1 C.W. Post and No.3 Adelphi. The Lakers have five games left in their season with match-ups coming against St.Andrews, Shippensburg, Bloomsburg, Slippery Rock and No.7 Gannon. No.1 C.W. Post garnered seven of the ten first place votes, while No. 2 Limestone collected the remaining three. Adelphi jumped past West Chester into the No.3 spot this week with 79 votes while West Chester fell to No.4 with 72 votes. Lock Haven rounded out the top five with 54 votes. Stonehill held onto to the sixth place spot with 44 votes, followed by Mercyhurst and Gannon. New Haven and Southern New Hampshire finished off the top ten with 19 and nine votes respectively. The Lakers will look to extend their five game winning streak Saturday when they host St. Andrews at 3 p.m. following the men's game. |
