Lakers Climb Into IWLCA Top 10 Poll
March 14, 2007 Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team climbed into the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Top 10 poll for the first time since being ranked No. 9 by US Lacrosse in the 2005 preseason poll. Since losing its first two games, Mercyhurst has won two in a row, defeating Belmont Abbey 12-7 and Millersville 11-10 in double overtime. The Lakers' losses came to No. 8 Pfeiffer and No. 9 Queens (N.C.). At the top of the poll, CW Post took over the No. 1 spot, receiving all 10 first place votes, while Adelphi dropped from No. 1 to No. 2. West Chester climbed a spot to No. 3, followed by Stonehill and Lock Haven. Limestone dropped three spots to No. 6 and Gannon jumped one spot to No. 7. Pfeiffer, Queens and Mercyhurst round out the Top 10.
