Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team climbed into the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Top 10 poll for the first time since being ranked No. 9 by US Lacrosse in the 2005 preseason poll.

Since losing its first two games, Mercyhurst has won two in a row, defeating Belmont Abbey 12-7 and Millersville 11-10 in double overtime. The Lakers' losses came to No. 8 Pfeiffer and No. 9 Queens (N.C.).

At the top of the poll, CW Post took over the No. 1 spot, receiving all 10 first place votes, while Adelphi dropped from No. 1 to No. 2. West Chester climbed a spot to No. 3, followed by Stonehill and Lock Haven. Limestone dropped three spots to No. 6 and Gannon jumped one spot to No. 7. Pfeiffer, Queens and Mercyhurst round out the Top 10.

Mercyhurst will be back in action Monday when the Lakers play their home opener against Slippery Rock at 4:00 p.m.
