March 5, 2008

Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team jumped Queens and Belmont Abbey to move to No. 8 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II poll Wednesday.

The Lakers are 3-0 on the season with impressive victories in all three contests this year. Mercyhurst received 31 points to pass Queens at No. 9 and Belmont Abbey at No. 10. C.W. Post remains No. 1 in the country and garnered seven of the 10 first-place votes. West Chester picked up two first-place votes to remain No. 2 and Limestone grabbed the other first place vote and climbed a spot to No. 3.

Adelphi is down one spot to No. 4 and Lock Haven is up a spot to No. 5. Stonehill and Gannon are tied at the No. 6 spot, just in front of Mercyhurst.
