Lakers Tied Most Goals in Game in 22-7 Win

South Euclid, Ohio - The Lakers tied their record for most goals in a game with 22 goals which was set in 2004 against St. Andrews. Lauren Smith led the Lakers with seven goals and one assist in their victory over Notre Dame of Ohio, 22-7. Mercyhurst is now 6-4 on the season.

The Lakers went up 5-0 in the first 12:29 of the game. Scoring for the Lakers were Kristen Toomey with two goals, Jessie Horeth with two goals, and Meghan Dwyer. Mercyhurst scored four goals in the last 3:09, 12-4.

Other Lakers scoring in the first half included Breanna Haggerty with two goals, Lauren Smith with three, Toomey with another, and Katy Miller. Jessica Raniero played the first 30 minutes of the game and made five saves.

The Falcons scored the first two goals in the second half within the first 4:45. Mercyhurst came back with a 10-0 run and held the Falcons without a goal in 23:56 to go up 22-6. Notre Dame of Ohio scored the last goal with 1:19 left.

Lauren Smith scored the first four goals of the second half. Other Lakers scored in the second half was Katy Miller, Haggerty, Katie Nagle, Dwyer, Stephanie Guiffrida, and Angela Schumerth. Maeve McGoff played the last 30 minutes and had five saves.

Haggerty moved to 8th in career goals with her third goal in today's game to total 85.

The Lakers return to action next Saturday, April 28th at home at 3:00 p.m. against Gannon University.
