Lakers Dominate Seton Hill 18-6

Erie, Pa. - Breanna Haggerty led Mercyhurst with eight points to its win over the Seton Hill Griffins, 18-6. The Lakers are now 5-4 and Seton Hill fell to 1-12.

In the first half, the Lakers scored the first three goals of the game which were by Courtney Olevnik assisted by Kate Smith at 28:30, Breanna Haggerty at 27:16 with a free position shot, and Lauren Smith unassisted at 25:53.

For the Griffins, Lindsey Smith scored their lone goal in the first half at 25:21. The Lakers scored the next 14 goals, 12 of them in the first half. Scoring for the Lakers included Lauren Smith with two, Kristen Toomey with two, Jessie Horeth, Meghan Dwyer with three, Kate Smith with one, and Breanna Haggerty with three all in the first half.

In the first half, the Lakers outshot the Griffins 31-6. Jessica Raniero played the first 22:15 minutes of the game making two saves.

Toomey and Dwyer began the second half with goals assisted by Horeth and Haggerty, respectively. Seton Hill scored the next five goals. The goals included two each by Ellen Einsporn and Krista Ocilka and one by Janette Kristich.

Katie Nagle scored the final goal on a free position shot with 1:17 remaining in the game.

Mercyhurst again outshot the Griffins 14-12 in the second half.

Maeve McGoff played for 26:20 and made one save in the second half. Megan Foley played the remaining 11:25 and faced no shots on goal.

The Lakers will face Notre Dame of Ohio on Friday, April 20th at 7:00 p.m. at Notre Dame.
