Shippensburg, Pa. - Breanna Haggerty led the Lakers with seven points, five goals and two assists, in a 14-9 victory over Shippensburg on Saturday. Mercyhurst improved to 4-4 and the Raiders are now 5-6.

The Raiders started out fast with two goals in the first two minutes of the half, 29:17 and 28:02. Shippensburg scored three goals in the first half, all by their leading goal scorer, Kristin Crutchfield.

The Lakers bounced back at 21:38 with Haggerty's first goal of the game. Mercyhurst followed with three more goals within five minutes, two of which were by Haggerty and one by Courtney Olevnik. Also scoring for Mercyhurst in the first half were Jessie Horeth with two, Lauren Smith and Kate Smith. Haggerty scored the last goal of the half at 1:52 to give the Lakers a 9-3 lead.

Mercyhurst dominated the first half by outshotting Shippensburg 16-9.

The second half was neck and neck as the Lakers were outshot 20-13. With the strong first half, Mercyhurst was able to pull out the victory even though it was outscored 6-5.

Scoring for the Lakers in the second half was Katy Miller, Angela Schumerth, Haggerty, Olevnik, and Lauren Smith.

For the Lakers, Jessica Raniero had 13 saves, four in the first half and nine in the second.

The Lakers will face Philadelphia on Sunday, April 15th at 1:00 p.m.
