Erie, Pa. - All-American candidate Breanna Haggerty had a career high nine goals and two assists to lead the No.8 Mercyhurst Lakers women's lacrosse team 18-3 over No.9 Queens (N.C.). Haggerty is now the all-time leading scorer in the history of the program with 139 career goals. This win marks the first time that the Lakers have beaten a ranked team under head coach Cecil Pilson.

Mercyhurst jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first fifteen minutes and never looked back. Haggerty scored four of her nine goals in that run with junior midfielder Jessie Horeth adding two. The Queens Royals lone goal of the half came from Carolynn Loan at the 14:53 mark off of an assist from Kelley Duffey. The Lakers then went on a 4-0 run to end the half with an 11-1 lead.

Mercyhurst came out of halftime ready to slam the door shut as freshman midfielder Kimberly Masterton scored her second goal of the game just two minutes into the half. Following Masterton's goal, Mercyhurst tacked on three more goals before Queens could get on the board at 11:20. The Lakers would score three more before the end of regulation to end the game at 18-3.

The Laker defensive unit was led by a stellar effort in goal by sophomore goalkeeper Maeve McGoff. McGoff finished with 11 saves and four groundballs. Freshman Maggie Yackel scooped up five groundballs to lead Mercyhurst while defensive counterpart Beth O'Neil chipped in three. This is the first time this season that Queens has been held to less than four goals.

Offensively, Masterton finished with three goals and three assists while Courtney Olevnik added two goals and one assist. Horeth found the back of the net three times and freshman Maria Rosettie also added one goal. Juniors Page Christensen and Kristen Toomey each added one assist. Haggerty's eleven points extends her streak to three or more goals to 14 consecutive games and has scored at least one goal in 34 of her career 36 games.

Mercyhurst held a 37-20 advantage in shots. Queens won 16-of the 24 draws and recorded 12 saves.

The No. 8 Lakers (5-2) will continue its home stand Thursday against Indiana (Pa.). Game time is set for 4 p.m.
