Lakers Get First Win With Victory Over Belmont-Abbey

Charlotte, N.C. - Mercyhurst jumped out to an 8-2 halftime lead and beat Belmont-Abbey 12-7 in Charlotte, N.C. The Lakers held a 34-21 shots advantage in controlling much of the action. Breanna Haggerty had three goals, while Lauren Smith, Kristen Toomey, and Courtney Olevnik had two apiece. Jessie Horeth, Kate Smith and Stephanie Guiffrida each scored one goal. Maeve McGoff had eight saves in net for the Lakers as Mercyhurst improved to 1-2 on the year. The Lakers will be back in action Saturday at Millersville beginning at 1 p.m. |
