Laker Offense Stalls In Season Opening Loss To No. 10 Queens
Feb. 28, 2007 Charlotte, N.C. - The Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team found offense hard to come by Wednesday and No. 10 Queens (N.C.) made the Lakers pay with a 9-4 defeat. The contest was the season opener for Mercyhurst. Mercyhurst held a Queens offense that averaged 16.5 goals over its first four contests to its lowest output of the year. However, the Lakers were held to their lowest scoring total in third-year coach Cecil Pilson's tenure. While Pilson has a youthful and talented squad, the Lakers could not overcome a highly-touted Queens team playing its fifth match of the year. Mercyhurst will look to bounce back Friday at Belmont-Abbey in a 3 p.m. start. Belmont-Abbey is the only team to hand Queens a loss this year, defeating the Royals 15-13. |
