All five of the team's losses came against top-10 opponents, including an 8-7 loss in the last ten seconds to cross town rival No. 6 Gannon University. The 2007 squad, again wielding a powerful offense, finished the season averaging 12.46 goals per game and set a new Mercyhurst team record for most goals in a game with a 23-10 victory over Presbyterian College.

In addition to the team accomplishments, two players in 2007 also reached individual milestones. Sophomore Breanna Haggerty finished the year with 42 goals, fourth best in a season, and 58 points, sixth best in a season. Her 144 points currently rates fourth in career points at Mercyhurst. Junior Courtney Olevnik reached a milestone by becoming seventh in career assists with 26.

His 2006 squad, which featured 13 freshmen, finished with a 9-8 (.529) overall record, a three-win improvement over the prior season. Seven of the team's eight losses came against top-10 teams, as well as an upset win over No. 10 Philadelphia University (15-10). The 2006 squad had a powerful offense that averaged 12.35 goals per game and set new Mercyhurst team records for goals with 210, assists with 117 and points with 327. It was the first time in school history a team topped the 200-goal plateau.

Pilson's team posted a 6-9 (.400) record in his first season (2005), with seven of the losses coming against top-10 opponents.

While at Mercyhurst, his teams have had one Inside Lacrosse All-American, three Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region Student-Athletes (2005, 2006, and 2007), nine IWLCA Academic Honor Roll Student-Athletes, and all three of his teams (2005, 2006, and 2007) were named IWLCA National Academic Squads.

Additionally, Pilson serves on the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Rules Committee as the Division II representative. He also holds a position on the IWLCA Board of Directors as one of the two Division II representatives.

Pilson came to Mercyhurst College after assisting Janet Grubbs at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. He earned a degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Exercise Science and a minor in Coaching from Longwood in 2004. He began his coaching career with the Longwood Lancers in the spring of 1999. During his tenure, the Lancers posted a 75-17-1 (.806) record and reached the Division II Final Four twice in 2002 and 2003 including a national championship appearance in 2003. During that time the Lancers were ranked in the top 10 each year. The Lancers also had ten players combine for nineteen All-American awards including three IWLCA Player of the Year awards.

He played men's lacrosse and started between the pipes at Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts, from 1996 to 1997.

Coach Pilson also spent eight years with the US Marine Corps Reserves. While in the reserves, he served overseas with Regimental Combat Team I during Operation Iraqi Freedom I in 2003.
