Agosta Named USCHO.com Offensive Player of the Week

Jan. 22, 2008

Minneapolis, Minn. - Mercyhurst sophomore forward Meghan Agosta has once more been named the USCHO.com Offensive Player of the Week. It's the third such award for Agista this season. She was similarly honored November 27 and December 11. Meanwhile, the Lakers remained at No. 7 in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Women's Poll released this afternoon.

Agosta had six goals and an assist and factored into all but two of the Lakers goals in 5-3 and 4-2 wins over Yale and Brown last weekend. She established a Mercyhurst record for consecutive game scoring streak (17) when she scored twice and assisted once in Friday's win over Yale. She broke her own record of 16 set last season. She then posted her third career 4-goal game in Saturday's 4-2 win over Brown and stretched her scoring streak to 18 games. Agosta also set a one-game Mercyhurst mark with 17 shots on goal.

She leads the nation in goals (31), goals-per-game (1.29), and shorthanded goals (6). Her last goal Saturday was a shorthanded, empty net. She now has 31 goals and 19 assists for 50 points, all tops on the team.

The Lakers host Quinnipiac this Friday and Saturday at 7 and 2.
