Agosta Scores Three as Lakers Roll Over Quinnipiac 7-0

Jan. 26, 2008

Box Score

Erie, Pa. - Sophomore Meghan Agosta extended her team-record scoring streak to 20 games with three goals and two assists as the Lakers (19-5-2) blanked visiting Quinnipiac (3-18-4) 7-0 to sweep the weekend series.p> Agosta scored twice in the second period, power play and even strength, and concluded the scoring with a shorthanded marker in the third. She totaled five goals and three assists in the sweep of the Bobcats and has amassed eleven goals and four helpers in the last four games. The hat trick was her second of the season; she also has two 4-goal games and leads the team with 36 goals and 58 points.

Freshman Jesse Scanzano scored both first period goals, one on a power play, as the Lakers outshot the Bobcats 14-5 in the opening twenty minutes. Agosta helped on both goals while junior Valerie Chouinard helped on the first goal, one of her four assists on the afternoon, and freshman Geena Prough factored in the second lamplighter.

Agosta sandwiched her second period damage around the first career goal by freshman Melissa Lacroix and the fourth of the year by senior Kristen Erickson.

Junior goalie Courtney Drennen (5-1-0) was the beneficiary of the offensive display in recording her second shutout of the season and sixth overall. She improved to 19-1-2 in her career.

Mercyhurst outshot Quinnipiac 62-15 and finished 2 of 6 on the power play. The Bobcats were 0 for 7. Freshman netminder Tia Wishart made 55 saves as her record fell to 0-5-0.

In addition to the 5-point effort by Agosta and the 4-point game from Chouinard, Scanzano had three pints and Prough finished with two.

Mercyhurst won't play again until Wayne State visits for conference games on February 8 and 9.<
