Sara Simard concluded her second season at Mercyhurst as a volunteer assistant coach. She helped guide the team last season to a team-record 32 wins, to its sixth straight conference championship, and to its third successive trip to the NCAAs.

She came to Mercyhurst from a successful career at St. Lawrence University. While at St. Lawrence, the Saints made the Frozen Four in both 2001 and in 2004. The Saints also made the ECAC playoffs every year she attended. Simard received the ECAC All-Academic Team award all four years.

Three years ago, she was an assistant coach of the North American Hockey Academy. The team finished with a record of 42-10-10.

In 1997, Simard played for Team Quebec which won the Canadian Championships in Prince Edward Island.

While at Mercyhurst, Simard is getting her master's degree in Organizational Leadership and is a graduate assistant for the Center for Institutional Technology.
