Mercyhurst Lakers Finish Fourth at Allegheny Invitational

The Mercyhurst Lakers women's golf team finished its fall competitions with a fourth place finish in the Allegheny Invitational on Tuesday. The women played one round and finished behind Allegheny (1st), Ohio Northern (2nd), and Allegheny B (3rd). The Lakers were led once again by the consistent play of Caitlin Cummings who shot a 88 (+16) on the day and tied for 11th place. Cummings was followed by her junior classmates Mattye Laurer and Kaitlin Brody who both tied for 21st after shooting a 93 (+21). Senior Jenny Halinda had a personal best for the fall by making it into the top four for Mercyhurst after finishing tied for 28th individually with a 96 (+24). Allegheny captured first place in its own invitational after finishing with a team total of 328 (+40) and four players finishing in the top 15 individually.Mercyhurst in comparision shot a team total of 370 (+82). Mercyhurst will now have a five month period to prepare for its spring season. The Lakers will open spring competition on March 21st at the Northern Kentucky Invitational. |
