Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst field hockey team hosted the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Indians on Sunday afternoon at Tullio Field, coming away with a 1-0 loss against the No. 4 team in Division II. Mercyhurst is now 6-8, while IUP is 14-4.

In the first half, Mercyhurst outshot IUP 8-4 and 5-3 on goal. The Lakers had eight penalty corners to the Indians' three. The Indians' goalie, Lydia Dolly, had five saves in the first half and the Lakers' Julie Smith had three.

IUP's Liz Marosky scored the first and only goal of the game at 4:45 into the second period. A green card was issued to IUP's head coach, Rutger Wiese, with 7:48 left in the game.

In the second half, the Lakers outshot the Indians 6-5. The Lakers had three penalty corners to the Indians' four. Smith had three saves in the last half of the game.

The final game for the Lakers is up next on Tuesday, October 31 at Tullio Field in Erie, Pa. at 3 pm against Houghton.
