MANSFIELD, Pa. -

The Mounties' Ryanne Higgins had a hat trick as Mansfield defeated Mercyhurst 6-0 at Mansfield.  The Lakers fall to 6-7 on the year with the loss.  Mansfield, ranked No. 10 in Division II, improved to 11-9.

Mansfield jumped out to a 5-0 lead at the half.  Breanne Tobin scored less than a minute into the game and Higgins tallied all three of her goals in succession in a 16 minute span, starting at 5:21.  Tobin then added her second goal of the game at 25:09.

Nicole Dann scored the lone goal of the final 35 minutes.

Julie Smith made nine saves in cage for the Lakers.  Brianna DeLuca stopped a pair of Mercyhurst shots.

The Lakers were outshot in the contest 19-6, but held a 10-7 advantage in penalty corners.

Mercyhurst will look to pull back to .500 with a game against No. 3 IUP on October 29 at 1:00 PM at Tullio Field.
