Mercyhurst Field Hockey Falls to Lindenwood, 3-0
Oct. 20, 2007
Erie, Pa. - Lindenwood's Jennica Albertson made seven saves and kept the Mercyhurst field hockey team off the scoreboard to send the Lakers to a 3-0 loss in a neutral site game at Bellarmine on Saturday afternoon. Mercyhurst (4-10) has now dropped five of their last six, including two by shutout. It was just the third time all season that the Lakers had failed to score in a game. Lindenwood (5-7) took the lead just 9:53 into the game on a goal from Michelle Bella and never looked back. The score, however, remained 1-0 until Bella assisted Gaby Cruz at the 48:24 mark. Three minutes later, Lindenwood added an insurance goal and sealed the victory. The three goals allowed were the most given up by the Lakers since surrendering five to Bloomsburg on Sept. 28. Courtney Monin led the Lakers with four shots, all of which were on goal. Junior Jen Macri stopped six shots while playing the full 70 minutes in goal. Mercyhurst takes on Bellarmine at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The team returns to Shippensburg for its season finale against Seton Hill on Oct. 30. |
