Erie, Pa. - Merychurst College sophomore Haley Brochu scored two goals as the Lakers shut out their fifth opponent of the year in a 3-0 victory over Seton Hill Thursday. The Lakers have won four of five and moved back to .500 at 6-6 on the year.

Brochu scored twice in the first 19 minutes of play, scoring the opening goal on an assist from Vanessa Mourey 11:08 into the competition. The Lakers then capitalized on a penalty corner as Erin Kelleher started the play with a pass to Erin Kelleher, who dished to Brochu for her second goal at 18:05.

The score remained 2-0 into the second half until Courtney Monin gave the Lakers an insurance goal at 52:19. Courtney Loper's initial shot was saved and Monin picked up the rebound and scored for the only goal of the second half.

Julie Smith made five saves for Mercyhurst to get the shutout. The Lakers held a 19-6 advantage in shots, including 13-2 in the first half.

Mercyhurst will play its final road game of the season when the Lakers play at Division II No. 10 Mansfield Wednesday at 4 p.m.
