#5 Bentley Blanks Stubborn Mercyhurst, 3-0

Waltham, Mass. - The #5-ranked Bentley Falcons scored three first half goals and went on to defeat Mercyhurst 3-0 Sunday. The Falcons improved to 13-4 on the season while the Lakers dropped to 5-11. Lindsey Harrington scored twice within a three-minute span early in the game to give Bentley a 2-0 lead. Harrington's goals were her tenth and eleventh. Mary Rogers concluded the scoring with her 21st of the campaign at 25:04. All three goals were at the expense of Mercyhurst junior netminder Julie Smith. Freshman Jennifer Coleman replaced Smith at the start of the second half and kept Bentley off the board the rest of the way. Coleman was credited with four saves. Bentley outshot Mercyhurst 15-6 and had a 10-4 advantage in penalty corners.
Mercyhurst will return home Thursday, October 20, to face Slippery Rock at 4:00pm. |
