Erie, Pa. - East Stroudsburg jumped out to an early lead and held off the Mercyhurst field hockey team's late rally to hand the Lakers a 2-1 loss on senior day at Tullio Field.

Junior Haley Brochu scored her second goal of the season at 47:42 to cut into a 2-0 Warrior lead. Mercyhurst, however, did not record a single shot over the final 22:18, giving East Stroudsburg their fifth win of the season.

The Lakers, meanwhile, fell to 3-8 on the season. The 2-1 decision was also the seventh Laker game by that score in 2007. Four of those decisions ended in defeat.

East Stroudsburg jumped on the board just 12:45 into the game on an unassisted goal from Caitlin Brownley. The Warriors increased the lead when Domineque Scott assisted Brittany Kocis four minutes into the second period.

Junior Jen Macri made five saves in goal for the Lakers. For East Stroudsburg, Carolyn Kisling made three stops.

The Lakers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 7 when they host No. 7-ranked Shippensburg at Tullio Field.
