Shippensburg, Pa. - The Mercyhurst field hockey team hung with No. 2 Shippensburg early, but the Raiders scored four times in the second half to defeat the Lakers 5-0 Sunday.

After Shippensburg scored just five minutes into play, Mercyhurst's defense held strong and the Lakers went into the break trailing just 1-0. But Shippensburg's Natalie Grazan scored the first of her two second half goals less than three minutes after the break and the flood gates opened. The Raiders scored three more times in the period to come away with the win.

Mercyhurst lost for the fourth straight game to fall to 2-5 on the year, but three of those losses have come against the top seven teams in the country, including No. 1 Bloomsburg and No. 2 Shippensburg.

The Lakers will be back in action Wednesday when Mercyhurst travels to Greensburg, Pa. to play Seton Hill at 4 p.m.
