No. 8 East Stroudsburg Too Much For Mercyhurst

Sept. 17, 2006

Stats

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - In the midst of a stretch in which Mercyhurst plays three of the top eight field hockey teams in the country, the Lakers have struggled to find their offensive firepower. Against No. 8 East Stroudsburg Sunday, the Lakers were shutout for the second time this year in a 4-0 loss.

Mercyhurst did have 10 shots on goal in the contest, but East Stroudsburg keepers Miranda Fountain and Crystal Condron stopped all of them on the way to the shutout.

Ashley Kocis scored the only goal of the first half and the Lakers were down only 1-0 at the break. But Cara Senese scored the first of her two goals only 2:27 into the second half and Kristen Trois added a goal less than five minutes later to make it 3-0. Senese's second goal came with about 12 minutes to play and closed the scoring.

Mercyhurst (2-4) will have a week off before playing at No. 2 Shippensburg Sunday at noon.
