Lakers Suffer First Loss to Bentley

Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst falls to Bentley 3-2 for their first loss of the season. The Lakers are now 1-1 on the season and Bentley is 2-0.

Lakers Courtney Loper scored her first goal of the season at 9:59 in the first half putting the Lakers up 1-0 going into the second half. Loper was assisted by Vanessa Mourey and Lauren Cohick.

After being held scoreless in the first half, Bentley scored the next three goals. Starting only nine minutes into the second half with a goal by Lindsey Harrington who was assisted by Kate Braden. Six minutes later, Mary Abraham scored the second goal of the game. At 54:55, Lindesey Harrington scored the game winning goal unassisted.

The Lakers answered with their final goal at 68:37 by Courtney Loper.

The Lakers were outshot 17 to 6. Mercyhurst goalie Julie Smith had eight saves on the day.

Up next for the Lakers is a home game against Bellarmine on Friday, September 8 at 7:30 pm.
