Erie, Pa. - Junior forward Lauren MacEllven scored a pair of first half goals and Mercyhurst went on from there to defeat Mansfield 4-0 Wednesday at Tullio Field. The victory was the first in three tries for the Lakers while the Mountaineers dropped to 1-3.

MacEllven scored her second goal of the season just 67 seconds into the contest and added her second of the game 21 minutes later. Freshman forward Alicia Guzzo scored her first collegiate goal eight minutes into the second half while senior midfield Misty Dennis finished Mansfield and the scoring with her second at 53:13.

Mercyhurst outshot Mansfield 18-3 and had a 10-0 advantage in penalty corners. The Lakers used three goaltenders in the contest with junior Julie Smith picking up her first win of the season. Senior Katie Heil played the first 54 minutes for the Mountaineers and absorbed the loss.

Mercyhurst will continue its six-game homestand to start the season when it plays UMass-Lowell Friday at 4:00pm.
